About Time Doctor
Time Doctor combines time tracking with workforce analytics. People track time against clients, projects and tasks; the software records activity while they do, and the resulting data feeds timesheets, client-billing reports, productivity dashboards and payroll.
Its natural home is work that is both remote and billable — agencies, outsourcing firms and BPOs where hours are the product and nobody is in the room to see the work happen. Where a simple timer answers *how long did this take*, Time Doctor is built to answer *what was worked on, by whom, and is the invoice defensible*.
The honest list
What we love
+Strong reporting depth for teams billing clients by the hour
+Purpose-built for distributed teams rather than adapted from a desk-based tool
+Timesheets, payroll and client billing in one system
+Monitoring level is configurable rather than all-or-nothing
+Free trial on a real team before committing
Watch out for
−Per-user pricing adds up quickly across a large team
−Overkill for solo users or teams that only need a timer
−Screenshots and richer analytics sit on higher tiers
−Activity monitoring requires genuine team buy-in — introduced badly, it costs more in trust than it returns in data
