About Docmost

Docmost is a young but fast-moving collaborative wiki built for teams that find Confluence slow or overpriced. It pairs real-time editing with spaces, granular permissions and built-in diagramming, so documentation and diagrams live in the same place.

Because it's self-hostable with Docker and licensed AGPL-3.0, teams can run it entirely on their own infrastructure and keep internal documentation off third-party servers, while still getting a modern editing experience.

What makes it different

Spaces & permissions

Organize documentation into spaces with granular, per-space permission controls.

Real-time editing

Multiple people can edit the same page simultaneously, with live cursors and presence.

Diagrams built in

Drop in draw.io and Mermaid diagrams directly inside a page — no separate tool needed.

Self-hostable

Deploy with Docker Compose and keep every document on your own infrastructure.

  • Self-hostable with a simple Docker setup
  • Modern, fast interface compared to legacy wiki tools
Worth knowing
  • Younger project with a smaller ecosystem than Confluence
  • No offline mode
  • Fewer third-party integrations so far
  • Enterprise-grade features are still being built out
